IC2 is pleased to announce the commercial launch of two new products at AIAA SciTech 2026: a 50 kHz bandwidth aeroacoustic microphone and a sensor-agnostic wireless data acquisition system.
The 50 kHz aeroacoustic microphone is an extension of our DynaMic® product line, which initially launched as a 120 kHz bandwidth dynamic pressure sensor. The new design provides a mid-bandwidth model with a lower minimum detectable pressure to extend into applications such as engine stand testing and model-scale phased array aeroacoustics measurements.
WIRA™ (Wireless Instrumentation for Remote Applications) is a natural progression of our WirelessArray® system and creates a platform for a distributed, wireless network of sensing nodes with a wider variety of sensor inputs.
The Right Microphone for Your Application
The DynaMic expansion, to include a 50 kHz bandwidth model, supplements the existing higher-frequency options to broaden its application space. Continuing IC2’s philosophy of application-driven sensor design, this 50 kHz variant is engineered with the same ultra-smooth, flush-mountable package and robust MEMS piezoelectric microphone design as the rest of the DynaMic family. Optimized for use in high-fidelity, mid-bandwidth applications, this new model is particularly well-suited for engine inlet phased arrays, wind tunnel aeroacoustic studies, and boundary layer fluctuating pressure measurements, especially in environments where sensor density and cost per channel are critical factors.
| Bandwidth (±3 dB) | Sensitivity | Max Linear Pressure | Min Detectable Pressure |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 Hz – 50 kHz | 130 µV/Pa | 178 dBSPL | 36 dBSPL @ 1 kHz 27 dBSPL @ 10 kHz |
| 20 Hz – 120 kHz | 100 µV/Pa | 178 dBSPL | 45 dBSPL @ 1 kHz 35 dBSPL @ 10 kHz |

Any Sensor, Anywhere
The WIRA system represents a significant advancement in IC2’s wireless data acquisition platform. Designed for flexibility and ease of deployment, each WIRA Sensing Node supports up to two swappable data acquisition modules and can collect synchronous measurements from multiple sensor types, including thermocouples, pressure sensors, strain gauges, and 4-20 mA current loop sensors. With robust wireless time synchronization (±50ns), data transfer and control via Wi-Fi, USB-C diagnostics, and solar charging capabilities, these nodes enable fully wireless field operation and extended deployments, even in challenging environments.

For aerospace researchers, WIRA offers clear advantages over traditional wired instrumentation systems. By eliminating cumbersome cabling, WIRA dramatically reduces installation labor and costs and increases sensor placement flexibility. The modular approach lets users mix and match sensor modules to optimize performance for each application, while built-in sensor health monitoring and remote control features ensure reliability and data quality. Whether your needs include airframe noise testing, engine stand noise evaluation, or rocket propulsion ground testing, WIRA delivers scalable, cost-effective measurement solutions tailored for demanding aerospace and industrial applications. IC2’s distributed wireless architecture is designed to grow with your requirements, supporting both standalone and networked configurations for maximum adaptability.
