Mechanical Engineer

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Seeking qualified candidates to fill a full-time Mechanical Engineering position within a dynamic, growing instrumentation technology company. The position is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and testing mechanical portions of multi-disciplinary sensors and instrumentation. Additionally, this individual works with the rest of IC2’s R&D team to improve, develop, and scale up production of products and assembly processes for transitioning from prototype to production. The Interdisciplinary Consulting Corporation (IC2) is seeking individuals who can perform all or many of the following responsibilities. Candidates with partial qualifications are still encouraged to apply.

  • Develop cost-effective instrumentation and assemblies by analyzing requirements, evaluating/testing manufacturing, assembly methods, and material specifications.
  • Analyze mechanical designs for structural, thermal, and fluidic performance.
  • Produce 3D CAD models of parts and assemblies, for new or improved products, using industry, departmental and discipline standards, within the specified timelines.
  • Produce 2D drawings of 3D parts for fabricators following industry standards.
  • Work with project team to execute projects on time and on budget.
  • Work with engineering teams to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs.
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations
  • Revise designs as necessary and provide guidance on additional resources required to Project Managers.
  • Source and purchase hardware and custom parts for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Develop manufacturing and assembly process documentation to support production builds.
  • Work productively as a team member with other employees fostering a strong team mentality.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical training and/or work experience
  • 2+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

PREFERRED SKILLS/TRAITS

  • SolidWorks experience and/or equivalent 3D modeling
  • Experience with FEM solvers for structural and thermal simulations
  • Experience with sheet metal design and documentation
  • Experience with wire harness design and documentation
  • General knowledge of fabrication methods and application of methods to part design
  • Ability to work independently to complete mechanical design tasks

Mechanical CAD Designer

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Seeking qualified candidates to fill a full-time Mechanical CAD Designer position within a dynamic, growing instrumentation technology company. The position is responsible for converting mechanical design specifications and concepts into technical 3D models and drawings and coordinating with vendors to fabricate the final designs. Additionally, this individual works with the rest of IC2’s R&D team to improve, develop, and scale up the mechanical production and assembly processes for transitioning from prototype to production. The Interdisciplinary Consulting Corporation (IC2) is seeking individuals who can perform all or many of the following responsibilities. Candidates with partial qualifications are still encouraged to apply.

  • Produce 3D CAD models of parts and assemblies, for new or improved products, using industry, departmental and discipline standards, within the specified timelines.
  • Produce 2D drawings of 3D parts for fabricators following industry standards.
  • Work with project teams to obtain reference information for drawings.
  • Work with project teams to execute projects on time and on budget.
  • Work with engineering teams to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs.
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations.
  • Revise drawings as necessary and provide guidance on additional resources required to Project Managers.
  • Source and purchase hardware and custom parts for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Assist in production support for issues pertaining to 2D drawings.
  • Create and update database of design records to assist other engineers and staff.
  • Develop manufacturing and assembly process documentation to support production builds.
  • Work productively as a team member with other employees fostering a strong team mentality.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • AS/BS in a technical degree or equivalent technical training and/or work experience
  • 1+ years of 3D Mechanical CAD experience, preferably with SolidWorks
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

PREFERRED SKILLS/TRAITS

  • SolidWorks certifications and/or equivalent
  • Experience with sheet metal design and documentation
  • Experience with wire harness design and documentation
  • General knowledge of fabrication methods and application of methods to part design
  • Ability to work independently to complete mechanical design tasks
