From Academic Origins to Industry Impact
Founded in 2001 in Gainesville, FL, by three University of Florida professors, IC2 began as an engineering consulting firm with a parallel goal of commercializing university-developed technologies. This origin gave the company a strong technical foundation and an entrepreneurial mindset centered on turning advanced research into practical tools to solve real-world measurement challenges.
What started as a small, research-focused venture has grown into a company dedicated to advancing measurement science via multi-faceted, novel instrumentation solutions. From the outset, IC2 has strived to connect the bridge between academic research and practical applications in aerospace measurement, helping end users move from experimental insight to useable data, better informed design decisions, and stronger engineering outcomes.
A Transition Towards Commercialization
Starting in 2014, IC2 shifted its business focus towards purpose-driven technology development to enable the commercialization of a suite of products to serve the aerospace industry. This dedicated mindset allowed IC2 to more fully invest in product design, manufacturing readiness, calibration, and application-specific systems development to bring our advanced solutions to the open market.
Today, IC2 provides precision instrumentation technologies that span sensor development, synchronized wireless data acquisition, and custom electronics integration. Our portfolio includes solutions such as:
- MEMS-based sensors engineered for aerodynamic (DirectShear®), aeroacoustic (DynaMic®), and high-frequency pressure measurements (MHzPressure®)
- Wireless data acquisition platforms (WirelessArray®, WIRA™) and timing tools (DAQSync®) that support synchronized, high-quality measurements across distributed systems
- Low-noise analog power supplies (IEPE, 4-Wire Power Supplies) designed to get the best performance out of IC2’s and others’ sensors
IC2 additionally leverages our internal capabilities to offer consulting services for MEMS sensor design and fabrication, device packaging, and custom electronics and product development.
This progression reflects our long-term goal of supporting industry innovation via measurement tools that reduce uncertainty, cater to application-specific needs, and open the door for smaller research institutions to access traditionally expensive measurements.

Based in Gainesville, Florida, IC2 has grown into an established organization with a dedicated lab and office space that supports research, development, and production of our suite of products and services. In-house capabilities enable us to move from concept to product with close attention to performance, packaging, and application requirements.
